Rocky Mountain Country Fest
The Sun was setting on Keystone ski resort as the venue workers of the Warren Station dotted their “i’s” and crossed their “t’s” in setting up for the Rocky Mountain Country fest. A quintessential back drop for a Colorado winter festival. Starting off the event was an exclusive VIP experience which included spirit tastings from Brush Creek Distillery, custom fitted cowboy hats by Parker Thomas, country line dancing lessons from Summit Country Dancing, and a private set by the Powell Brothers. As the liquor lifted the guest’s spirits to new heights, that’s really when the fun started. Who doesn’t enjoy liquor, torches, the crisp smell of branding cowboy hats, and dancing?
While people were filing in through the front door, the first wave of VIP’s made their way to the dance floor where Pat and Lisa, from Summit Country Dancing, eagerly awaited their new students. With a little bit of liquid courage from Brush Creek Distillery, the dancers were receptive of their instructors and before you knew it, there was a crowd dancing in unison. The dances consisted of the “Sleazy Slide” and the “Country Two Step”. After some practice runs, the Powell Brothers bursted onto the stage and really set the tone for the evening. Now that the crowd had their new dance skills, they put them to use as the band played everything from outlaw country, classic country, original music, and even some Billy Joel. When the Powell Brothers’ first set ended, that’s when there was an influx in the crowd and the party was ready to start.
Once the general public was settled in with drinks in their hand, The Powell Brothers entered the stage and picked up right where they left off. With their second set just as good as their first, the crowd was now ready for the headliner, Kevin Daniels and the Bottom Line. The band played a set list that kept the crowd hootin’ and hollern’ all night! Playing original music, such as “Xanax, Cocaine, & Whiskey”, and covers from Tyler Childers and Johnny Cash. As the passion from Kevin Daniels poured into his ribbon microphone and out into the crowd, you could really hear that high fidelity sound. It’s what fueled the room for the night, well, that and whiskey.
If you are looking for fun events, definitely check out the Warren Station, or if you see The Powell Brothers or Kevin Daniels and the Bottom Line, do yourselves a favor and just go!
